Buy X Get Y Pop‑Up Guide: Setup, Behavior, and Conditions

This guide explains Discounty’s pop‑up behaves in Buy X Get Y campaigns - how to enable, what customers see, and how the pop‑up interacts.

Updated today

1. Enabling the Pop‑Up

  1. In Campaign Setup, select Reward Delivery → Manual – Show Pop‑Up.

  2. Save and launch your campaign.

  3. Theme requirement: Make sure the Discounty app embed is enabled in your theme’s App embeds panel. If the pop‑up doesn’t appear, double‑check this setting.

2. Customer Experience

Desktop

  • Appears centered on the screen with a store‑wide overlay.

  • Each reward tile shows image, title, variants, price (or “Free”), and the quantity the customer can add.

Mobile

  • Slides up from the bottom for a native‑app feel.

  • Single‑column layout with swipe‑to‑scroll if multiple rewards are offered.

You can customize your pop-up style in the customization settings. For more information, click here.

3. Reward Limits

  • Customers can select products from the pop-up only up to the maximum reward quantity you’ve defined in the campaign settings. Once the limit is reached, additional selections will be disabled.

    • Example: If one free gift is allowed, the Select button is disabled after a single reward is chosen.

  • The pop‑up updates remaining quantities in real time.

⚠️ Note: For now, each BXGY campaign allows only one reward per order. We’re working on expanding this in the next release so you can define the maximum number of rewards per campaign.

4. Combination behavior

  • If two or more BXGY campaigns are active and their X products are in the cart (rewards unclaimed), a single pop‑up lists all eligible Y products - each with its own discount. The total selection limit equals the sum of reward limits across those campaigns.

5. Add‑to‑Cart Behaviour

When a customer selects a reward, Discounty instantly adds the product to their cart. Some themes do not refresh the cart display in real time, so customers may need to reload the page to see the newly‑added item. If this occurs in your store, reach out to our support team, and we’ll fine‑tune the integration so your cart updates automatically.

6. Pop‑Up Dismiss & Floating Action Button (FAB) Behavior

  • If a shopper closes the pop‑up without selecting a reward, the Floating Action Button (FAB) remains visible on the storefront (if enabled). This small button allows customers to reopen the pop-up manually at any time, even if it was previously closed. It helps recover conversions by giving shoppers another chance to view and claim their rewards without re-triggering conditions.

  • The pop‑up re‑opens automatically if the customer removes the reward and re‑qualifies while still on site.

⚠️ Note: You can change the dismiss rule, FAB’s appearance, and position in the customization settings. For more information, follow this article.
