Applies to: Discounty "Price rule" campaigns (formerly “General discount”).
Other Discounty campaign types follow different rules, and you can check the relevant troubleshooting guides for them. Check here.
Sometimes you launch a Price rule campaign and find that some — or even all — products stay at their original price. Check each cause below, in order, until the discounts appear.
1. Products must be "Active" and "Published on the Online Store"
Discounty updates only products that meet both conditions:
Requirement | Where to check |
Status = Active | Shopify Admin → Products → (product) |
Online Store sales channel is enabled | Shopify Admin → Products → (product) |
How to fix this?
Activate or publish the missing products.
In Discounty → Campaigns, Deactivate the campaign, then Activate it again to resync every SKU.
2. Remove “Fixed price” overrides in specific markets
Price rule campaigns adjust the price and compare-at price. If a product has a Fixed price in a specific market, that hard-coded amount blocks any discount.
How to fix this?
Take a look at your market pricing to see if fixed prices are set. If they are and you're okay with removing them, follow the steps below — that way, the compare-at prices will work.
Shopify Admin → Settings → Markets → (market) → Products and pricing
For each affected item, choose Adjust price → Percentage (leave at 0 % or set a relative change).
Save, then Deactivate → Activate the campaign so the discount flows through.
3. Use product tags instead of Smart Collections
Shopify’s API can sometimes fail to return products from a Smart Collection (automatic collection), causing them to be skipped. As a work-around, you can set a tag on products of a collection and create your Discounty campaign based on the tag.
How to fix this?
Navigate to the Products Page:
Open your Shopify admin panel and go to the Products section.Filter Products by Collection:
Use the filter option to select the collection that includes the products you'd like to tag.Select All Results:
Check the box to select all the products displayed in the results.Add a Tag:
Click on the ‘…’ (More Actions) button, and then choose ‘Add Tags.’Create and Assign a Tag:
Type ‘A-Discounty’ as the new tag and apply it to the selected products.
You can then deactivate the current discount campaign applied on the specific collection and create a new campaign for 'A-Discounty' tag. Please note that it might take a few minutes for the new tag to be applied to your products and shown in the Discounty panel, so please create the new campaign after approximately 10 minutes.
4. Enable combination feature for additional discounts
If you have products included in both a Price Rule campaign and other campaign types (like Minimum Quantity/Volume or Minimum Value), and you want customers to receive both discounts, but the additional discount is not applying alongside the existing campaign discount, it is likely because the combination feature is disabled for the campaign. How to fix this?
Deactivate both campaigns.
Go to the campaign settings and enable the combination option for both campaigns.
Reactivate the campaigns to apply the updated settings.
5. Understanding discount visibility limitations
Price Rule campaign discounts typically appear in the cart but do not display during checkout. This is expected behavior because Shopify handles the checkout process independently. Unfortunately, this behavior cannot be changed.
If you need a discount to appear both in the cart and during checkout, we recommend using other campaign types, such as Minimum Quantity/Volume or Minimum Value discounts.
6. Address conflicts with other apps
Sometimes other apps (e.g., pricing or inventory management tools) may interfere with the application of discounts, causing some products to be excluded from active campaigns. How to fix this?
Identify and temporarily disable any potentially conflicting apps.
Verify that all intended products are included in the campaign settings.
Deactivate and reactivate your campaign to allow changes to propagate.
