When you run a Price Rule campaign (formerly named General Discount campaign) in Discounty, the app updates your product pricing directly in Shopify by setting:
A new price (the discounted value)
A compare-at price (used to show the original price crossed out)
These pricing changes trigger visual elements controlled by your Shopify theme—not by Discounty.
What will customers see?
For Price Rule campaigns, most Shopify themes will:
Show the compare-at price with a strikethrough
Display the discounted price as the current price
Add a “Sale” badge or similar indicator on the product card or product page
Important: These visual changes are automatically handled by your Shopify theme. Discounty does not create or control how sale badges or price styles appear.
How to customize the badge wording or appearance
These steps help you modify how Shopify displays price rule discounts on your storefront. These options do not apply to other Discounty campaign types like Quantity or Value-based discounts.
Change the badge wording (e.g. “Sale” → “Discount”)
In Shopify, go to Online Store > Themes
Click the ••• menu beside your live theme
Select Edit default theme content
Search for "Sale" wording by clicking on the relevant tab or category, likely found under the 'Product' tab with the label 'on sale'.
Change the label text (e.g. from "Sale" to "Discount")
Click Save

Change the badge style (color, font, or shape)
Go to Online Store > Themes
Click Customize beside your active theme
In the left panel, go to Theme settings
Look for sections labeled Badges or Product labels
Adjust style settings as available (not all themes support this)
Click Save
If your theme doesn’t have visual controls for badges, a developer may be needed to apply custom styling.
Show discount values like “10% Off” on the badge
Most Shopify’s themes, specially the free ones default behavior is to show “Sale”. To display dynamic text like “10% Off”:
Your theme must support dynamic badges
Or, you’ll need to add a custom-coded solution or use a Shopify app
Discounty does not manage or provide this functionality
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Does Discounty control these visuals?
No. Discounty sets the product price and compare-at price, but the theme decides how that pricing is presented.
We don’t control badge labels, styling, or display logic—but on some paid Discounty plans, our team may be able to help with minor visual adjustments depending on your theme. Contact support for details.
2. Does this apply to all Discounty campaigns?
No. This only applies to Price Rule campaigns. Other campaign types (like Quantity or Minimum Value discounts) apply discounts at checkout and do not change the product’s price or trigger sale visuals from your theme settings on the storefront.
3. Why does the badge say “Sale”? Can I change it?
Yes. The badge wording comes from your Shopify theme’s text settings. You can update it to say “Discount,” “Promo,” etc.
4. Why don’t I see a badge or strikethrough?
Some themes require enabling compare-at pricing or product labels in the design. Check your theme’s settings or contact the theme developer.
5. Can I show ‘10% Off’ instead of ‘Sale’?
That depends on your theme. Shopify doesn’t offer this by default. If your theme doesn’t support it, you’ll need a developer or third-party app.
6. Can Discounty fix how the badge looks?
Discounty doesn’t own the display styling. But on select plans, we may be able to help you adjust basic visuals. Reach out to support if you’re eligible.
