"Price Rule" campaigns (formerly known as "General Discount" campaigns) help you increase sales by applying custom pricing directly to your products. This guide walks you through all steps to configure and launch a Price Rule campaign in Discounty.
1. Set your campaign name
Give your campaign an internal name like "Spring Sale – 20% Off." This name is not visible to customers but helps you identify campaigns later.
2. Choose your discount type
You can discount products using one of the following methods:
Each method directly adjusts the product price and compare-at price, which appears on your storefront with a strikethrough line and a sale badge.
⚠️ Important: Price Rule campaigns update live product prices. If you're using other apps that also modify pricing, live inventory management or price editor apps, overlapping edits may occur. Make sure to always deactivate your Price Rule campaigns before making manual price changes or uninstalling the app.
3. Configure advanced price change features (optional)
Under “Advanced price change features”, you can refine how your prices are calculated and displayed:
Set specific price endings
Round discounted prices to a specific ending, like .99
, to maintain a clean, consistent storefront appearance. Example: $23.87 becomes $23.99.
Apply discount based on compare-at price
If your product already has a compare-at price and a discounted price, this option lets you apply the new discount on the compare-at price instead of the current price.
Example:
Compare-at price = $12
Current price = $10
New 10% discount applies to $12, bringing the final price to $10.8
Keep current price and increase compare-at price
Use this to create a visual discount without changing the actual selling price. Discounty increases the compare-at price while keeping the current price the same.
Example:
Current price = $10
Discount = 50%
Compare-at price = $20
Result: Product still sells for $10, but shows a “50% off” label
4. Choose the products to include
Use filters like Collections, Product tags, Vendors, Product types, and All store or manually select products and variants to define what should be discounted.
You can also exclude specific items using the Excludes section.
5. Enable auto-update (optional)
If you want the campaign to automatically include new products that match your filters, check “Auto-update the campaign's products when items are added or removed from your store". This ensures any newly added products that meet the criteria are included without editing the campaign. Also, if a product doesn't meet the campaign filters anymore, it will be removed from the discounted products and the campaign with this option.
6. Use campaign combinations (optional)
You can allow this campaign to run alongside other Discounty campaigns by enabling:
Combination with Quantity or Value campaigns
Combination with other Price rule campaigns
If left unchecked, Discounty ensures no overlapping discounts are applied to the same products.
7. Set schedule and countdown timer (optional)
You can schedule when your campaign starts and ends, and optionally add a countdown timer to create urgency on your storefront.
Start date/time: When the campaign will begin
End date/time: When the campaign should automatically expire
Activate countdown timer: Display a live countdown on the product page
8. Review campaign summary
Before saving, review the Summary panel to confirm your setup:
Campaign name
Discount type
Affected and excluded products
Start/end schedule
Once ready, click Save or Activate to launch your campaign.
By following these steps, you can run smart, targeted Price Rule campaigns that update your pricing automatically and boost conversions. If you need help at any step, contact Discounty support team directly from the app.
